Thanks grand_lu for the description, I do not remember much of what happened, from what you say it could have been far worse, so we are lucky to be ok.
I will do only what the doctor tells me and hope to reduce my medication very soon, I would like to think my life will be normal one day, but it was not normal before so I do not think it will be normal again.

Thanks you everyone for the words of encouragement, it helps a lot to know I have friends in the VRCC who care so much.

Thanks for the well wishes, so quick update, hospital last Thursday to see specialist re my foot and unfortunately it is not good, I will not walk on it again for minimum 3 months and will not ride a bike again this year.
Further, the long term outlook is very bad, I will need ongoing operations to retain any movement in my foot in the medium term, eventually my foot will be no good. I hope that is a long way in the future, (doc said about 9 years) but for all the doctor tried to sound optimistic he did say I had to be prepared to have bones fused and expect arthritis to set in sooner rather than later, I have nothing left of my heel bone, so no repair possible, or at least non offered.
With luck and careful management I am hoping to get at least part of next summer on two wheels if not all of it,
Then,
Into the future, I will be looking into getting a second trike for me maybe next year and rigging a hand change/power shift so at least I can stay in the wind, probably though on three wheels now.
How quickly life can change at the twist of a throttle,
My glass remains half full, safe winds to all,
Mick

I know somewhere on this forum my accident has been mentioned but being unable to read French I cannot join in so have come here to communicate.
I understand some of my French friends we’re following behind when we had the accident and witnessed it; it looked bad from where they were, for me I do not remember much.
Jenn, the pillion on the other bike is recovering and should leave hospital this week, she has maybe 12 broken ribs and a double arm fracture, she is one very lucky lady and has been in my prayers since the accident.
Me? Final count was 8 broken ribs and a shattered ankle bone; they are looking again at my foot next week as we think there is more damage. I am at home and managing with pain relief, everyday it gets better.
I have been told 8 weeks before I walk and at least 12 weeks before I ride again, so I will be OK to visit my friends in the Alps in 2015.
3 bikes were involved in the accident, I was riding a friend’s bike, as mine is having the gears rebuilt, the damage to the bike is not so bad, and we can repair it with spares we have available in our garages,
I would like to thanks everyone for the messages of support and encouragement, it will take time but we will get better and ride again,

Thanks for filling in the details Fifi, your generosity in offering accommodation is most appreciated.
I have now announced the ride on facebook and posted on the UK main board, with luck we will get some interest, unfortunately fucking Ferdinand isn’t coming, victim of the economic climate but I am hoping we will get enough interest so the effort put in will not be in vain.
If there are any local riders who would like to share some wind on our ride south I’d ask them to let me know so I can schedule a meeting point into itinerary, be great to have local company on the ride down.

Thanks Fifi, that is my usual rout, but as a rule I go on the bypass and miss most of the sights, this year I will stop and look.
The cathedral at Chartres I have seen from a distance on the N154 from Dreux, it looks massive from there so am sure close up it must be huge.
Again with Chateaudun, Vendôme, and Blois I tend to take the road around the city and bypass the beauty, this year I will visit.
We have watched the zoo being established from a field to the spectacle it now is, and it is still being developed, it is only 90 klms from our house so not far to visit in a day but I’m sure it would be better to stay over and spend 2 days there, it looks fantastic, they have done a great job developing it.
Thanks for the suggestions; I’m looking forward to many a happy hour discovering for myself the beauty of France.

On your way down to the South, visit " Les Andelys " and the "Château Gaillard".

A great page of common French and English history

I’ll be riding down to scout this years “Belonga Mick” ride on 20th April, probably bunk down in Abbeville and continue south on 21st, arriving Gerberoy or thereabouts at about 10.30am, from there I will be taking a rout towards Dreux (avoiding Paris) then my usual road to Bethines via the Bis, unless that is anyone has any other suggestions?
This is the first of many trips I will be doing on the bike this year, I’ll be in the Van in May but the bike June 10th (alone) and July 6th (with meJulie) to scout the ride to Fifi’s and on into Italy. Van again August but back on the bike September 16th after UK event in Torquay, this one I’ll be arriving at Cherbourg so taking a new rout for me down the west of your beautiful country, I love traveling a new road.
Then of course it is the “Belonga Mick” ride, we will post details of dates and schedule after this scouting trip when I will have more idea of rout and times.
Hopefully we’ll meet on the road
Mick.

Don't look further for any hotel. There is a very good house close to Gerberoy : Sophie's and Noël's one.
Their cellar is full with some of the best Burgundy wines.
I hope that they will read this message.

May be also, we could organize a meeting with some French F6C riders. In this case, you will enjoy the famous organization of the Parigots.

Parigots is the familiar name given to the inhabitants of Paris and its suburb.[/quote]

I will post here, nearer the 20th / 21st, my expected route south, If I am there the Sunday 21st it would be nice to meet some “French” crew before I head south again.
I have pencilled in a couple of trips to scout the ride for October, I am sure on one we will meet again.
Maybe by then winter will be a distant memory, boy it’s still cold outside here.

OK, not the place really,,,,,, but,,,,,,,,,,, that video is the problem I have with learning French, most “educational” material is structured like that. Now if I say to you “I am a baby I want to learn as a baby learns to talk”, it doesn’t matter at the early learning stage how a word is spelt or if a number is this plus that plus the other, the sound of the word means what it is and that is enough, follow?
I have over the years experienced many misunderstandings; some have not been a result of speech, many with fellow “Brits” who supposedly “speak the same language. We are so different in many ways but at least we all on here ride the best motorcycle ever produced, no misunderstanding there.
Oh and a further aside I’ll be visiting Gerberoy on my ride south at the end of April (20th - 21st), to scout this years ride to “Belonga Mick’s”, thanks for the recommend. Any suggestions of a friendly hotel near by that would house a dozen or so non natives would be appreciated.

I respect the law of the country I ride in, however our helmets did not come with stickers and the advice in UK is to NOT stick anything on a helmet as it can undermine the helmets integrity, it is difficult, maybe if I get stopped I will put stickers on my helmet and remove all my clothes, the stickers will keep me safe,

So if it is the case since 2004 I guess they do not enforce it so much? I have not got reflectors on my helmet and not been stopped and haven’t noticed reflectors on other helmets, so as long as they are in the box it is OK LOL?

Next time you will come to France, make a stop at Gerberoy ( it's on the way ). It is antoher nicest French village. If you don't know yet, you will enjoy.

Thank you for the suggestion to visit Gerberoy, it is on the way so will schedule it for our trip next year, it will make a change from going into Rouen and another interesting route south, it does look very nice.

Next year we will come in the sunshine and include a ride to Fifi, maybe have more United Kingdom riders also.
We travelled from Bethines to Abbeville in rain on Monday and have only dried out today, Wednesday.
Now all home safe.
Even in the rain, friends have a great time
Mick

Got Sundays ride sorted and a vary scenic one it is if I do say so myself, with a very nice midday eats stopover that will actually open for us specially. Having found this place it’s a shame I didn’t discover it sooner, would make a great base for an event, (you’ll see when we get there) unfortunately it being October the cook is away so it’ll just be burgers, no traditional French lunch (maybe next time).

2 rooms left at Archie’s B & B for this “event”, I’m going to be making the final arrangements in September when I go out so cut off date for notifying me you’ll be attending is 28th August, if you haven’t got your name on the list by then it’ll be too late to put it on as I’ll be away till September 30th so won’t have time to buy extra provisions,if you do "just turn up" you'll have to bring your own food.

date reminder
Friday 5th October returning to UK on Tuesday 9th
Nice long weekend in France.
Get some sun before winter

We dyno tested the bike for comparison before and after, 2 runs before and one run after, I did the runs and it being my first time on a dyno, well I aint no pro. These runs weren’t to see how powerful the valk is, (we all know that anyway) they were just to make sure the new system has no detrimental effect on performance, think we showed that.
As a note on readout as I’m sure questions that I can’t answer will be asked I’ve got the Mario fifth gear, running a ct 205-55. Don’t know if that makes any difference.

(Make sense?)

1- Stainless steel
2- Single pipe
3- Front pipe cover, original
4- Muffler cover stainless, come with system and are interchangeable with original and possibly available separately if not wanting complete system
5- Rear tips come with system and again are interchangeable with original and might be made available separately
6- Will post dyno tomorrow yes
7- I don’t think they want the expense of E mark, expect limited sales as bike out of production, but a call to MOTAD would be wise for this.

I hope this is clear, so:-
It is a complete stainless steel system including muffler cover and rear tip all in stainless steel, the cover and tip might be made available as an after market product for original system if they sell enough complete exhausts, these covers are fully interchangeable with original

I have posted details of meeting in October in “Agenda” is this right?

Thanks for that Geoff, This system is available to buy now from the manufacture and they are offering a club discount of 20% off any system ordered before the end of April 2012
The cost is retail £495 (UK plus V.A.T) less the 20% plus shipping, get in touch direct with Motad at
sales@motad.co.uK
Anyone want any details of my experience of riding with this system give me a shout, I’ll be riding thru france later this summer so you might even get a chance to see the system up close. (will post details of October UK invasion on "Evenements à venir", later, if you’d like to come on the ride out and enjoy a BBQ register with myself or Philippe)
